Is a 2 1/2 yr old ready for a chore chart?

Jack is 2 1/2 yrs old. I'm really interested in starting a chore chart or something similiar. We are having a hard time getting him to pick up his toys. At daycare, there is no issue. I think some of it has to do with the fact that if you don't pick up or eat their lunch, they don't get a sticker at the end of the day. Jack gets upset when he doesn't get his sticker. It only took a couple of days of this and now there are hardly any issues.
As far as potty training goes, I am considering using the same method. He bought a potty chair a few months ago. He was so excited and used it the first day. He hasn't gone potty in it since. I can get him to sit, but he won't do anything. Do you think he's just too young? His ped told me to wait until he was 3. So, I'm not forcing it on him, but I would sure love to try and start training.

Do you think a 2 1/2 yr old would really get anything for a chore chart or a potty chart?

I think kids will adapt to anything you put before them. You can try and if you don't want to push it too much, if your son doesn't naturally take to the chart then you can know that he might be too young for it. Maybe you could try it for a week to see how it goes? I tried several times potty training my daughter. We started and stopped so many times because she just wasn't getting it. The final time, she just took to it right away. We put a sticker on the seat back every time she used the potty. She was 3 when it finally worked. You know, in countries of Asia, they potty train the babies as early as 6 months.

Thanks for your input. I figure I have some time bc on his birthday, we won't start any sort of preschool until he is almost 4.
I'm kindof excited to look for a chart. Nothing like having a reason to shop!
