I've been waiting for the best day to post this. Today is the day. About a week ago, I mustered up the courage to wear capris to work. I know, they are just capris. You see, I'm pale. But, I was proud of myself for showing some leg.
So, I'm sitting at my desk and the girl across from me says, "Wow! Your legs are really pale!". Here is what I said, "Thanks for the info. I had no idea that my legs were insanely pale." I then turned around and started my work.
Here is what I wanted to say:
Hello! I'm German, Irish, and English. A total mix of all the palest ethnic backgrounds ever! Thanks Caption Obvious for pointing out to me that I'm albino white. I really had no clue. When you have a skin cancer scare at 26 years old, we'll talk. I'm sorry I don't feel the need to lay out in the sun or tanning bed for hours on end. Plus, you are Cambodian! What do you know about being pale? You have a super nice color year around."
I could also put what I really really wanted to say. But, I think I thinks a little mean and I do actually like the girl who was

I love when people do that for exactly the reasons you said. Like oh my gosh I had NOOOOO idea!! That's amazing, they were tan this morning! Better hit the death bed!
LOL...you are hilarious!!! When I was 20 weeks pregnant, I had a mole removed from my face because it doubled in like a year. When they got the results back, they said it was pre-cancerous. There is no way I will lay out in the sun again.
I hve a friend on FB who had a cancer scare at 24 she is a cali girl she is a HUGE advoate for outlawing tanning beds and with good reason.. you should check out her site www.barefootsisterhood.com
I would so MUCH rather have my white skin then skin cancer at 24. I'll take my pasty white chest and legs thankyouverymuch....

Girl rock those pasty white legs!!! I'm 30 and have Melanoma. The worst form of skin cancer. I was diagnosed when I was 28. No fun at all!! I'd rather be here ALIVE rocking pasty ass white skin then be laid out with a nice tan in a casket. I am very fair skinned, red headed, blue eyed & Irish so I've never been a big sun worshipper. I did the tanning bed thing for awhile in my late teens. Man if I knew then what I know I NEVER would have set foot in one.

I live in Iowa and as a kid/teen I spent my summers detassling corn fields. I'd start the season pasty as all get out and by July, I was soooo brown. Looking back, I didn't look as good as I thought. I'm ok with some color, but I'm not going to risk seeing my son grow up just so I look good in shorts.
oh i am white as white can be too! no matter how long i "tan" i stay white and i get comments like that all the time i just tell them id rather be pale than look like i rolled around in a bag of doritos!
